I've Been into town today and noticed the marked absence of many Christmas decorations?

in shop windows etc and no Christmas music at all. Whats it like in your area. Have they downgraded Christmas? Only 6 weeks to go, a couple of years ago it would have been lights and bells everywhere

I'm happy to say,I went into my town last week (a rare occasion), decorations are on display in the shopping centre, along with decorative lights in the main town. The usual Santa's Grotto is still operating.I think it will be interesting to see how many people still have decorative lights around their house. As a rule everyone around me has a display! I shall treat my Christmas as I always do.....lights and bells everywhere......in fact, I will probably do a little extra this year!! Ho-hum...
Reply:Good for you! Drives me nuts all the ridiculous suggestions, but you know me.........bit of a rebel!!

Thanks trish. Report It

Reply:We just had Halloween. I don't want to start thinking about Christmas until after Thanksgiving.
Reply:Could it be that it isn't even December yet?????????
Reply:its economics i think most are complaining that business's don't want to pay a shear and so the lights are going up later. then some will say its because of not wanting to offend people which it has nothing to do with it. Believe me i know some bosses that would love if it was like Valentines day. and not a holiday at all. they would love all the buying of presents but forget the idea of a day off. they are the real risk to christmas and they are the ones that are really pushing for it to be just a spend fest and no joy. its coming in this globalism world of ours.
Reply:We have got some where I live - not as many as years ago though. They cleverly call them 'Festival decorations' now though so as not to offend anyone. I live near to Southall and they put the dec's up to serve both Diwahli and Christmas. Lots of shops etc have been decorated with Happy Diwahli taking over from Happy Christmas.
Reply:i think the decoration are getting less, i like the fact that it is not in your face, all the time, and the music drives me mad, i dont mind so much if its say 2 weeks before christmas, but i am fed up with it at this time of the year
Reply:Many towns are going politically correct so as not to offend anyone. The decorations are inside the store but not visible to the walker bys.
Reply:Gee. no Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving??

What's this world coming too.
Reply:Our town is looking really nice so far, and the shops are looking good as well.

Where i work at Argos we have the trees and decorations up and the Christmas music playing.
Reply:Most towns I've lived in started the week of Thanksgiving.
Reply:IT'S NOT CHRISTMAS YET! It's November.
Reply:We cant be seen upseting any other faiths.
Reply:We have some Christmas displays in the stores. Decorations %26amp; trees %26amp; things on sale.

After Thanksgiving, I expect that the city will be decorating around the lightposts, %26amp; garlands over the streets. Wiill be music playing.

Not supposed to be going full tilt with Christmas stuff till we've had Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Reply:It's only the 14th of November!

When do you want Christmas to start?

Midsummer, Easter?

This season of hysteria and conspicuous consumption is long enough as it is.....
Reply:In Belfast the shops are gearing up for xmas this week, today they were putting up the main lights (the smaller lights in the streets have been up for weeks) and a massive christmas tree, which made me feel xmassy. The shops aren't too busy get so I was buying some presents today cos I hate shopping in crowds and every shop had xmas displays of presents and clothes shops have 'party windows' of clothes to wear to xmas parties, so all in all its getting pretty christmassy even tho its only mid november!
Reply:I live in Gwent, they have just finished putting up the tree in the town and were trying out the lights............It looked lovely. Don't know who will be turning them on yet............
Reply:It isn't even Thanksgiving yet. Maybe the day after?

Are you in America?
Reply:I've noticed that too actually.

No Christmas music or decorations being hung yet....I'm in Canada........but yeah, seems like as the years go by.....everyone waits until the last minute to do the "Christmas thing".

Sad though, i remember being a kid and right after Halloween....BAMMMM Christmas commercials and decorations everywhere!!! It was great.....
Reply:its marketing, last year they blamed bad sales on starting to early so this year they start late.
Reply:The muslim grinch has stolen xmas
