So what made this national news? It was a misdemeanor?

ANDERSON, Ind. - A Salvation Army bell ringer sang "The First Noel" while shoplifting Christmas ornaments on his break, police said. Sean M. Sayers, 33, Anderson, was arrested Wednesday on a misdemeanor charge of conversion.

So what made this national news? It was a misdemeanor?
Because the news media are a bunch of idiots.
Reply:I believe shoplifting is a misdemeanor
Reply:The fact that he was associated with a relief organization, namely the Salvation Army, makes it quite a shocking and unpleasant news topic, since they are meant to provide relief from unpleasant events, not induce them. ;)
Reply:The atheists and agnostics cannot handle anyone who has the "Joy of the Lord"
Reply:Obviously it was a slow news day, certainly the event of an ironicly scored petty theft would never make it to the front page news were I live
Reply:Since when did news media actually focus on the important events?
Reply:thats ridiculous, i am an atheist and i don't find that offensive in any way. it's a song. alot of this politically correct crap has gotten out of hand.
Reply:Well anything that will make Christians look bad is reported,To bad the good isnt as well! Shoplifting is a crime(Mcgruff crime dog)
