Do you play the whole "santa is real" game with your children?

if so, to what extent do you go? cookies %26amp; milk for santa on Christmas Eve? a few fallen sleigh bells in the fireplace? something else?

also, just for kicks, how old are your kids and do you think they really believe?

Do you play the whole "santa is real" game with your children?
Well, I don't have kids, but I do have a niece and two cousins that we spend Christmas with every year. My dad, my uncle, my aunt, and me have a series of events that we go through.

First, my dad and I ALWAYS buy eggnog for Christmas Eve. On our trip out, my father will make a call to the house as Santa (he does a great Santa voice). He talks to the kids, and tells them to make sure they go to bed on time, and etc. etc. Santa stuff.

When we get back, we put out milk and cookies, and the kids leave Santa a note. Then we wait for the kids to go to bed, and we lay out all of the presents. We only put a few presents under the tree before Christmas, so when Christmas morning rolls around, the kids are wowed.

Then the fun stuff: My dad or uncle take their cars in the yard and make tire tracks. The throw ribbons and bows and wrapping paper and stockings in the tracks, along with Santa dust (which my uncle has deemed the glitter that apparently makes Santa's reindeer fly). Then we take boots with baby powder and the glitter (Santa dust) and make foot prints into the house.

Santa always writes a letter back (this is my job)-- usually thanking the kids, and telling them about the "Crash landing" and informing them about the reindeer and how they're doing.

One year, "Santa" told the kids Rudolph didn't have much energy, and the kids insisted on leaving out orange Gatorade for him!

Some years my dad will also get on the roof with a flash light and jingle bells and "ho ho ho" while the kids are falling asleep.

Um, my cousins are 7 and almost 5, and my niece is 5. To my family, Christmas is something we should all enjoy, and we love making believers out of the kids!
Reply:The whole nine yards, when they are young. Cookies and hot chocolate, letters to Santa and a phone call from Santa. Before kids, Christmas was just Christmas and I only thought about me. Children gives you a whole new outlook on Christmas. The joy you bring when they get something they really want, that brought me joy. It can't be beat. Go all out you'll be a change person.
Reply:well, i'm a teenager, so i know santa isn't real.

but we keep it going for my 7 year old brother and my younger cousins.

we leave homemade cookies with a glass of milk, sprinkle reindeer food in the yard, write letters to the north pole, go sit on santa's lap, andddd make a "carrot trail" from the backdoor.

(it's like a trail of nibbled off carrots, meant to look like they've been eaten by reindeer.)

my parents love getting us the perfect gifts, and all of the adults love keeping the spirit alive in the younger generation.

happy holidays! (:
Reply:Yes. there is something magical about believing in Santa. It leaves you wondering and so full of hope. My little sisters are 2 and 4 and belive in Santa. We leave carrots by the firelace for the reindeer to eat. Thats it.. we dont do milk and cookies. My daughter is 9 months old and we plan on telling her about Santa. You are only a gullible child for so long, so why not make the childhood something wonderful. It doesn't teach kids that lying is ok.. it teaches them to have imagination and to make-believe. There no harm it that.
Reply:i dont have kids yet, but i will play the game until they are about 10
Reply:Well I'm only a teenager and I know Santa is not real but I still believe in the spirit of him. :D

And I still keep the game going with little kids, though I'm an only child. My best friends younger siblings, and my cousins. It think it's so cute how the children act and they go to all this trouble for "Santa". Making a list, setting cookies and milk, making sure not to get on the "naughty" list. It's too cute for me, so of course I go along with it. I also get into it to, it's hard for me not to when I'm aroudn my cousins and my sisters little baby brother and my other friends baby sister.
Reply:i dont have4 kids but my sister says that u should just to keep the christmas spirit alive and her kids are 6 and 2 lol they leave cookies and cooki douh or riendeer food lmao
Reply:I don't have kids yet but I've been wondering whether I should or not. I mean, it was fun but it also kind of teaches that lying is alright.
