Mine tree is a 8 ft Scandanavian Pine (a blue green with white tips) with 1200 lights, clear ornaments, icicles made of glass, silver jingle bells %26amp; tiny windchimes. I am putting it up this weekend.
What does yours look like %26amp; when will you put it up?
Christmas Tree. How is yours decorated?
Thanksgiving weekend is the time we put up our tree! we ned atleast 2 1/2 days to get tehj job done right. I am particular!!!!
It's an artificial 7 1/2 ft Mountain King. We always get visitors claiming that it won't last until Christmas because it looks so real!
It has individual branches to insert and shape separately and stands about 7 ft wide at the bottom. I have over 600 ornaments from antique to current Hallmark, including blown glass, and lots of hand crafted ones. We also have complete sets like the Lenox Carousel set and some older Hallmark Club designs. Oldest is a very plain glass, oval shaped bulb. It's about 75 years old and was my grandmother's. We use over 500 of them each year. The lights I use are the larger C5 and I use about 75-85 of these, very carefully spaced and proportioned for color. I add about 5 or 6 'twinkle' lights to give a soft twinkling background effect and it works very nicely. You have to go light with these or it starts to look like a store front ! We add candy canes to be given to the younger visitors and they all go by time the tree is ready for it's rest. I also use and love our blown glass icicles and hang them off the very ends of specific branches to give a more majestic effect to the tree. I have a colorful tree skirt with a horse drawn sleigh to cover the base.
I recently added a few bubble lights to give it some additional life.
It gets to be more fun with each passing year and as my two girls lend a hand and share laughs.
Man, do I live for this!!! Have a Merry Christmas!!!!
Reply:Have you seen a charlie brown Christmas? Cause that's what my tree looks like, and it doesn't go up until a few days before Christmas but it stays up through January. I got it at wallgreens for $20 a few years back and now I don't want to let it go. Theres huge gaps between the branches but if you put enough ornaments up you can't really tell. I have a love hate relationship with my tree.
Reply:We don't have ours yet. We usually wait until after Thanksgiving, and due to other plans %26amp; events this year we'll likely not get one until a week or so into December.
We like to get a Fraser Fir about 6-feet tall (about as much as we can fit.) They have nice strong branches for ornaments and don't lose many needles. The decoration varies a bit from year to year, but we tend to lean a bit 70s retro since that's when we were kids. :)
Reply:I love Angel Christmas tree toppers. I found a site with a very unique Fiber Optic Irish Angel Christmas Tree Topper (at very low price) and others at : http://perfect-gifts-for-all.blogspot.co...
Reply:We're going to put ours up tomorrow night, after we get home from our Thanksgiving party. First we put the lights on, I'm not sure how many we have. Then we have garland in gold and silver wrapped around the tree. Over that we have tons and tons of ornaments that we've collected over the years (the kids have a few from when they were born, ones from anniversaries, etc.) We also have one that is a glass icicle that was painted from the inside- I got it from my great-grandfather. At the top, we have an angel holding a single light. (To look like a candle.) We turn out all the lights, except for the ones on the tree, and it looks soo cool.
Reply:It's too early to put up a Christmas tree, and the way Christmas is becoming, I'm considering not putting it up at all. But the tree I have is kind of small and simple. The decorations are maroon and gold, and it matches my living room.
Reply:its way too early
Reply:I lOVE Christmas and put up my tree last weekend. I have to use an artifical tree due to allergies and bought a 9 ft, pre-lit with 1500 lights last year after the holidays. I use crystal antique icicles, clear, silver and ornaments in shades of gold. I also put my collection of Harlequine dolls in between the branches. I have to admit, I had to go out and buy more ornaments this year because the tree I had before was only 7 ft and the ornaments I had weren't filling this one up enough. I made bows out of ribbon to put on the ends of the boughs and bought gold webbed ribbon to use as garland. I have a porceline antique Santa that I put on the top that I've had since I inherited it as a child. It looks just awesome!
Reply:I do not have a tree up but I do have my Nativity scene all set up. It's beautiful, baby Jesus in the manger and the beautifully painted wise men bringing him gifts, that sets the mood in my home. In another section I have Santa looking down and baby Jesus then in my family room I have a couple of knick knack snowmen and a snowglobe santa.
Reply:We put up several trees. The first tree was put up on Friday. This one is for the grandchildren. Each year we buy each of our grandchildren an ornament to add to their colletcion. Each child has their own kind like angels, snowmen ect. On Friday after Thanksgiving the children help us put the tree together then each one gets to hang their own ornaments. When they get married they can take their ornaments to start their own tree.
Our main tree is 8 feet tall. I'm afraid I don't know what kind it is but it is very full and beautiful.. I decorate it with over a thousand clear lights. Each of the ornaments are either crystal, pearl, cut glass or hand-blown. Most all of the ornaments on this tree help us to remember just what the holiday is all about. Most of them are miniature nativity scenes, churches, angels, crosses, snowflakes and bells. Most of the ornaments also have a little story that goes with it like where we got it at or something funny that happened when we bought it. Putting up the tree and remembering all the stories of past Christmases makes for a great family time. The tree skirt is one my grandmother made for us the first Christmas we were marrried. It puts just the right finishing touch to the tree. I will put that tree up around the 5th -10th. You are right, putting the tree up helps to put everyone in the Christmas mood. Playing Christmas carols at the same time is also fun.
Reply:We don't have ours yet, we get them on the first day of December (my family always buys two). The one in the family room is your typical 8-foot tall evergreen, with colored lights and the cheesy decorations people gather through the years, along with homemade ornaments made by kids and grandkids. Then in our living room, we get a 12-foot high tree that sounds a lot like yours, amber lights with white, crystal, and some gold ornaments. We put this gaudy angel on the family room tree and a crystal star on the living room tree. What do you top your tree with?
Reply:It's a 7ft Norwegian green with white tips. Have to get the lights yet, but it will be decorated with all different kinds of ornaments, baubles, santas, snowmen, icicles, tiny parcels, drummer boys, you name it. I love to see the look on my nephews and nieces faces when they see the tree and look at all the ornaments. I don't go in for designer trees, just chaotic ones ! My tree will go up next week
